What Ed Sheeran really needs to know about New Zealand

Jandals. That's what Ed Sheeran will have to learn about if he wants to become a New Zealand citizen.

Ahead of his tour of the country in March, Ed recorded a video message for fans saying: "I'm not yet a citizen of New Zealand but I'm working on it - hook me up Prime Minister, please."

PM Jacinda Ardern responded with a couple of questions testing Ed's knowledge of the country.

So Newsbeat got some New Zealanders to give us some insider tips.

Firstly, what are Jandals?

"They are probably as close to the New Zealand national dress as you can get," says Casey Dalton, a New Zealander who now lives in London.

"Aussies call them thongs and you guys call them flip flops.

"In summer it's a singlet stubby (short rugby shorts) and jandals every day."

Alyssa from Wellington keeps up the fashion theme.

"Everyone wears bare feet in the supermarket. Shoes aren't compulsory," she says.

"People wear bare feet all year round, even in the winter."

And there there's pie. Even the police in NZ get involved.

Warning: Third party content may contain ads.

"Always blow on the pie" says Alyssa. "He needs to know about this because Kiwis love pie."

If she was giving Ed advice on where to go to experience some of New Zealand's scenery, Alyssa has one destination in mind.

"Tongariro Crossing is one of the most beautiful day walks in the world. It's in the middle of the North Island and is a volcanic area."

"New Zealand's landscape is very green, mountainous and natural. There is so much untouched land."

"The beauty of New Zealand is it's the only country in the world that has every type of climate," says Genevieve, who's from Oamaru in the South Island.

From the tropical far north, you then "head down to the south which is very close to the Antarctic, so you've get your freezing temperatures."

So what else do you need to know if you're planning on moving to New Zealand?

"Rugby and the All Blacks is our religion. So Ed if you want to be a citizen, you've got to be willing to accept this," Casey says.

"In Wellington, the wind is brutal," Casey says. "Umbrellas are obsolete and you'll be laughed at if you try and use one."

For Genevieve, the sun will be the biggest obstacle for Ed.

"First bit of advice for Ed, definitely use SPF50 plus with his ginger skin. That hole in the ozone is brutal."

JAY-Z admits cheating on Beyonce

JAY-Z has admitted cheating on Beyonce for the first time in an interview about his life.

He told The New York Times Style Magazine that he'd built up walls due to issues from his childhood, which led to him shutting down and infidelity.

"The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone's face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself," he said.

The couple had both hinted about it in their music.

"You have to survive," he said. "So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode, what happens? You shut down all emotions.

"So, even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can't connect. In my case, like, it's deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity."

He hinted that they could have got divorced but he'd had therapy to help him deal with his past experiences.

"You know, most people walk away, and, like, divorce rate is like 50% or something 'cause most people can't see themselves."

In 2013, rumours came out that the rapper had been cheating and then there was #elevatorgate when Solange Knowles attacked JAY-Z, while sister Beyonce stayed silent.

More recently JAY-Z's album, 4:44, eluded to him being unfaithful.

He wrote: "Look, I apologize/Often womanize/Took for my child to be born to see through a woman's eyes."

A year before 4:44 came out, Beyonce sang about "Becky with good hair" on her album Lemonade.

"He only want me when I'm not there/He better call Becky with the good hair."

The rapper and Beyonce had planned to do a joint album but ended up doing solo records instead.

"We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together. And then the music she was making at that time was further along.

"So, her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on."

Not only did JAY-Z open up about his marriage, he talked about his relationship with Kanye West.

"I [talked to] Kanye the other day, just to tell him, like, he's my brother. I love Kanye. I do. It's a complicated relationship with us."

He admitted that it hadn't always been an easy relationship.

Kanye West reportedly left JAY-Z's streaming service, Tidal, over a money dispute and he also ranted about him during a concert.

"I'm sure he feels that I've done things to him as well. I'm not a perfect human being by no stretch.

"Hopefully when we're 89, we look at this six months or whatever time and we laugh at that."

Girl gets final flowers on her 21st from dad who died from cancer five years ago

Bailey Sellers' 21st birthday is tinged with sadness as she's received a final bouquet of flowers from her dead father.

He pre-paid for a floral delivery each year since he died from cancer when she was just 16.

She's been receiving them with a note for the past five years.

This year's message said: "I will still be with you with every milestone, just look around and there I will be."

In a heartbreaking post on Twitter, Bailey, who's from Knoxville in America, explained what her amazing father had done adding: "Miss you so much daddy."

She posted pictures of the note, flowers and an old photo from when she was child.

In the note attached her father had written: "This is my last love letter to you until we meet again.

"I do not want you to shed a tear for me my baby girl for I am in a better place."

Many people responded including @thesn0wmexican: "seeing this made me tear up, I'm so sorry for your loss, this is both sad and heartwarming that he did that for you."

Bailey replied: "I know. Every year I looked forward to my birthday because I felt like he was still here with me but this is the last year I get them so it's so heart breaking."
